Looking back on 2010

2010 was a big year with lots of milestones crossed.

  • Dialed in our new track rig

  • Exhibited at the CPT'10 Convention in Huntington Beach, CA

  • I co-presented the International CPT Operator Training class with Mario Weinberg at Deltares in Delft, the Netherlands

  • Worked with several new clients and increased our business with nearly all of our loyal clients

  • Pushed over a 1000 CPTs, for over 50,000/15,000 total feet/meters a new record

  • Saw increased use and acceptance of our vane shear testing equipment and Icone digital cone equipment.

  • Welcomed a new cpt operator

  • Improved our organizational structure to accomodate further expansion

  • Have set new standards for productivity, and improved professionalism and perfomance, emphasizing client satisfaction, especially with our field efforts

I could not be more proud of our entire staff and how well they have adapted and prospered. More so given all of the expansion and improvements we have made, in a year that has also seen an extremely competitive and uncertain business climate.

Right now, we are hard at work on more large projects and 2011 is starting off strong. Because there is always room for improvement, we are moving forward in new directions and refining our CPT services to better serve our clients.

We look forward to working with you soon!

Lots of news

It's been much too long since I last posted to the blog. So what has happened since I last wrote? An awful lot actually, here is a list:

  • We have completed dozens of large and complicated projects in six states, from Michigan to North Dakota

  • We were a sponsor and exhibited at the CPT'10 Conference in Huntington Beach, CA, meeting many old friends and connecting with interesting people in the industry from all over the world

  • We have added a new CPT field person to our team, as this summer saw our field operations operating at 100% capacity plus. A big turn-around from the downturn in 2009. Joe Strnad is new to CPT (as everybody is in the beginning) but has an excellent background and training during a military career in both the Navy and the Army. We are very impressed by his professionalism and drive and confident he is a great addition to our excellent staff

  • Brad Warm has been promoted to the new position of Field Operations Supervisor. Congratulations to Brad!

  • Finally, I have been working with Deltares of the Delft University's Delft GeoAcademy on both the International CPT Operator Training class, as well as putting together a CPT Operator Training class for the North American market. As part of that effort, I co-presented the course in September in Delft, the Netherlands (more on this in a subsequent post)

So, all in all, a very eventful year so far!

Last Tuesday we did something never done before in the United States. We performed remote CPT and seismic testing controlled over the internet. Controlled by Nico Koster and Bauke Regnerus of AP van den Berg in Heerenveen, the Netherlands to be exact. Although this was in the course of "routine" trouble-shooting of

Winter in Minnesota

So winter is now fully engaged in the upper midwest! We've already had several sub-zero (farenheit...) days and nights and the snow is really drifting

A New Vendor!

We are pleased to add a new vendor to our company, to help us deliver our CPT services in a timely and cost-effective manner.

Wow

Well. After an admittedly dismally slow several months, things are really hopping now! We have an eleven day project in western Oklahoma for our truck rig, a 12 day project in Indiana for our track rig, and a 10 day project for both rigs later in November. So that means November and the first week in December are fully booked.

Ready to go
